The Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region (GASK) in Kutná Hora has enriched its gardens with the lush Skleník bistro, which has become a new center of regional gastronomy. This garden bistro offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy fresh food and local cuisine specialties in an environment that harmoniously combines modern architecture with a historical context. Skleník, thanks to its location overlooking the Church of St. Barbara, is a gourmet place where every lover of farm products can indulge in authentic gastronomic experiences.
Bistro Skleník was designed by the Kodet architects studio as a wooden building with large glass surfaces, which ensures natural contact with the surrounding nature and historical environment. The capacity includes up to 40 seats, divided between comfortable indoor seating and an outdoor terrace with a breathtaking view of Kutná Hora and the iconic Church of St. Barbara. This careful design not only increases the comfort of visitors, but also supports the concept of an open space where culture meets gastronomy.
Gastronomy in the Greenhouse emphasizes local cuisine and uses seasonal farm products that highlight the taste nuances of traditional Czech specialties. Visitors can enjoy dishes prepared from fresh ingredients originating from the region, which contributes to supporting local producers and at the same time offers an authentic gastronomic experience. The garden bistro is not only an experiential destination, but also a place to connect the community with the culture of food.
In addition to culinary delights, the Skleník bistro is becoming a place for culture and social events, which regularly accompany more demanding cultural programs in the GASK gardens. At the grand opening in April 2025, which was part of the JARO – DESIGN – GASK design market, visitors appreciated not only the gastronomy, but also the rich accompanying program including musical performances, theater for children and exhibitions of modern art. Such a concept strengthens the role of the bistro as a meeting place and inspiration.
The Skleník bistro actively contributes to the development of tourism in the region and serves as a prime example of how to combine modern architecture with monument protection. Councilor for Culture and Tourism Václav Švenda emphasizes that this gourmet place brings a combination of quality social space and a range of quality regional dishes, which strengthens the overall attractiveness of the gallery and the city itself. Support from the Central Bohemian Region thus shows the importance of the alliance between culture and gastronomy for the development of local communities.
