In 2025, the Zámoraví Primary School in Kroměříž becomes a model of innovative education thanks to the sensitive reconstruction of its school greenhouse and the construction of a modern gazebo. These newly renovated spaces are not only an architectural feat, but above all a tool for enriching the teaching of environmental education and gardening. The school thus connects traditional methods with modern technologies and ecological thinking, which contributes to the comprehensive development of students and to the support of community life.
Modern greenhouse as a center for environmental education at Zámoraví Primary School
The greenhouse, which is an integral part of the school’s new educational garden, has undergone extensive reconstruction. The original building has been expanded to meet the demands of modern teaching and provide sufficient space for practical gardening activities. The new roofing and glazed areas ensure optimal lighting conditions for growing plants and at the same time allow for effective use of the space throughout the year. The surroundings of the greenhouse are complemented by a paved area, a ramp for barrier-free access and a storage room for garden tools, which significantly facilitate the organizational aspect of teaching.
Basics of gardening and ecology in practice thanks to new spaces
Thanks to the reconstruction of the greenhouse and the added infrastructure, students have the opportunity to engage in practical gardening education, which supports not only theoretical knowledge, but also a responsible approach to the environment. Organizing projects focused on ecology and sustainability is now easier and more attractive, which positively affects children’s interest in natural sciences and modern technologies associated with nature protection.
Gazebo as a multifunctional space for teaching and relaxation
The original plans to expand the greenhouse to include an outdoor classroom were met with opposition from neighbors, so the school decided to build a separate gazebo measuring approximately 5 x 5 meters in another part of the school garden. This gazebo is designed to serve as a place for teaching and afternoon activities for the school after-school club. It also provides a pleasant environment for parents who can spend time in nature and the community environment while picking up their children.
Innovation in education with regard to community needs
School principal Ivana Uherková emphasizes that the reconstruction of the greenhouse and the construction of the gazebo are not just construction projects, but represent a significant step in the innovation of teaching and strengthening communication between the school and families. Investments in these facilities complement modern technology and support children’s natural interest in ecology and gardening, thus creating an inspiring environment for comprehensive education at ZŠ Zámoraví.
The costs of the reconstruction of the greenhouse amount to approximately 1.6 million crowns, and the construction of the gazebo is budgeted at 200 thousand crowns. The project documentation was completed by the end of August and implementation is planned for the following year, which confirms the school’s determination to continue developing its educational capacities.
